Introducing GBA.BUZZ for Rootstech 2018



HOW TO PLAY:

    1. Visit the following booths in the RootsTech Expo Hall:
      • Photos, Movies & More
      • Legacy Tree Genealogists
      • MyHeritage

      • Ancestry

    2. Find the QR code banner in each booth.
      • Scan the code, or
      • Enter the URL address from the sign into a browser on your smart device
      • Each QR Code / URL is specific to the each vendor.
    3. After entering the code, you’ll key in your name and your email address to create an account to track your progress.
      • If you stay logged in, you won’t have to enter this information each time.
      • If two people are playing using one device, you’ll have to key in the name and email to switch accounts.
    4. Answer a question about the exhibitor’s business.
      • Many questions will be discovered as you talk with an exhibitor’s representatives.
      • Some questions might be answered by exploring their booth displays
      • If you get the question wrong,
        • You’ll learn why the answer is wrong and be given a second chance.
        • You may be offered a different question.
        • You may be offered the same question but you can now answer with the correct answer.
    5. Watch for Instant Rewards:
      • After answering a question correctly, some exhibitors will offer you instant rewards.
      • You’ll see the Instant Reward on the correct answer screen.
      • Depending upon the Instant Reward, you’ll may also receive an email.
      • If you want to access the Instant Rewards again at any time, scan the QR code for the booth again.
    6. Move on to the next exhibitor on the list and repeat the Scavenger Hunt process for more chances to win and more instant rewards.

Once you’ve visited each of the 16 participating businesses you will be entered to win one of 16 prizes! As you work your way through the Scavenger Hunt, share your progress on Social Media using the social share buttons from the app. Challenge your genealogy buddies, and see who will be first to finish.

  • TUNE IN: The GBA.BUZZ Giveaway prizes will be awarded during a live stream on Monday, March 5th at 12 pm CST on the Family History Fanatics YouTube channel. If you miss the live stream, watch the replay. Winners will be contacted by the companies after the drawing. Exchange of prizes will be the responsibility of those individual companies.

    1. Do I have to download an app to play?
      • No. The app is web-based and accessible from any browser.
    2. How do I play the game without a QR code reader?
      • Enter in the URLs listed on the banners in the booths.
      • If you’re using an Android device, the app has a QR code reader that you can use after you answer your first question.
    3. Can I play the game if I don’t have a smart device?
      • There are no paper entry forms for the game.
      • You can play the game by using the URLs from the booths and answering questions using a browser.
    4. Do I have to make a purchase to play?
      • No purchase is necessary to enter the drawing.
      • You do have to visit the booths and answer questions to play.
    5. How does the Scavenger Hunt game keep track of my points?
      • You have to log into the app using a name and an email. If you log out of the game, just enter the name and email again, and your points will still accumulate.
    6. Should I share this game on social media?
      • Please share that you played the game on social media. Help add to the BUZZ of the game.
      • Don’t share the answers, as that hurts the businesses providing the prizes in the giveaway.
    7. How do I know if I won a prize?
      • Watch the live drawing on the Family History Fanatics YouTube channel at 12 PM (noon – CST) on Monday, March 5th. After the drawing, each company will contact their prize winner via email.
    8. Can I win more than one prize?
      • No. Only one winner will win one of the 16 prizes.
    9. Why am I getting so many emails?
      • By playing the GBA.BUZZ Scavenger Hunt game, you’re granting permission to exhibitors to send you Instant Rewards.
      • Instant Rewards could be exclusive coupons to use during the conference, post-conference specials, or guides to continue your genealogy learning. You may receive up to 16 emails from GBA.BUZZ with the Instant Rewards to ensure you retain the bonuses when you’re not accessing the app.
      • After the conference, you may receive an email for winning a prize from one of the participating companies.
      • After the event, you may receive emails from each company to opt into their mailing list.  Beyond the opt-in email, you should not automatically appear on a company mailing list without your consent.
